HOW THE STARTUP CUP WORKS /

​

Each contestant will be given five minutes to pitch their business idea or product followed by five minutes of questioning from judges and the audience. The judges have been selected from various local businesses and will be judging on the following criteria:

• Existing problem & solution proposed​

• Uniqueness & value added by business or idea​

• Assessment of the marketing & competition​

• Business model & plan​

• Grand Prize: $1,500 and a Consultation Package from Finden Marketing

• Most Innovative Idea: $1,000

• Best Business Model: $1,000

• Audience Choice: $500

 

 

ABOUT THE COMPETITON /

 

The UMD Startup Cup is a university-wide entrepreneurial competition in which six finalists have the opportunity to pitch a business idea or product to a panel of Minnesota business professionals.

This event is open to all UMD students who have an innovative idea, startup, or running company. The top three contestants will be awarded scholarships to help fund their business ventures along with an audience choice award chosen by the audience.
